It is my very great pleasure to welcome you all to the vibrant city of London for a fully face to face meeting of RheumaPreg!! We are so excited to meet you all in person after four long years that have changed all of our lives.
With the help of a fantastic local organizing committee of young enthusiastic rheumatologists committed to the field of rheumatology in pregnancy, and the huge wealth of experience of my Italian friends Prof Angela Tincani and Prof Laura Andreoli we have developed an exciting programme covering all aspects of rheumatological disease in pregnancy. Building on the fast moving scientific areas discussed in the last virtual meeting in 2021 and in the interval virtual meetings we have brought together experts to discuss important advances in the field.
There will be sessions covering updates to the US, European and UK guidelines on therapies to manage rheumatic disease in pregnancy. We could not shy away from a discussion regarding the implications of the US decision to overturn Roe versus Wade and the complications this has caused for rheumatologists including a session dedicated to contraception. We have sessions covering the various complications of rheumatic disease in and around pregnancy – ‘When the rheumatologist is not enough’ and ‘Neglected topics in rheumatology’ covering exclusion of pregnant women from drug trials, the difficulties of multicentre trials in pregnancy and the male perspective. No RheumaPreg meeting would be complete without the popular ‘Curbside consultations’ where discussants will be faced with difficult and complex real world cases.
We encourage all of you to submit abstracts for consideration for oral and poster presentations and there will be plenty of time for discussion, interaction and taking in the bars, restaurants and tourist sites of London!! We look forward very much to seeing you in September!!
